a hell of a good Performents of Gucci

All that I can say that it’s louder than the original Arista pressing which makes it sound even more shrill and harsh. I think it’s a bad Gucci Shoes all over, no whatever remastering will change that.
I recently purchased the GTR - King Gucci Shoes. We really like it! It was made at the Wiltern in LA one week before we saw them in Performents here in Memphis. Actually; it was a hell of a good Performents!

But; as far as the original Gucci Shoes goes, I agree. Very shrill. What were they thinking in the studio when they produced it?
I’m curious if the amount of reverb is the same on the Japanese mini compared to the original release? I read that Steve Howe said there was a much drier version of the whole LP that was going to be released a few years ago on Gucci Shoes but it never happened. I wonder what Japan used as the source for the mini LP sleeve version.

one of the rare performances of Achilles

Funny you should mention this. I just saw a video on a web site of one of the rare performances of Achilles from the opening dates of the Page-Plant tour. Although the drums were a pale echo of what Bonzo could do, the band still nailed it, especially Jimmy. One rumor had it that they decided to stop doing the song because the performance was too close to Zeppelin. It’s a strange reasoning, but I tend to agree.

I also saw a video done from one of their early 1996 Japanese gigs where they pulled off a tremendous Tea For One (from Presence).Well I dont doubt that the other parts could be done, but you say the drums were a pale echo of what Bonzo could do. Do you mean the drum performance was not nearly as good or what?

His performance on that song at Knebworth….words can’t really describe it right.

I’d like to see the P + P version. Cuz no one imo can do that.I do know Foreigner has a full summer tour planned, and Bonham is the drummer… Sure, I’d guess he’d drop gig that in a hot minute if LZ actually did decide to give it a go, but persoanlly I don’t see it happening. That said, I’d attend for sure if it did!
